An excerpt from a previous post:
“There was a time when my friends asked me this question, “Nikon or Canon?” They knew that I was always a Canon EOS DSLR user and now they’re wondering why I own a Nikon Digital Camera. I just told them that I made peace with that question a while ago, so now I use Canon and Nikon Digital Cameras. I play no favourites anymore because both of them are good quality cameras and it’s your own choice which brand you prefer. I like Canon, Nikon and I just received a gift, the new Sony NEX 5 Digital Mirrorless Camera, one that I have always wondered about, this mirrorless Digital Camera since I have always used the DSLR with mirrors SLR (Single Lens Reflex). The Sony NEX is light and this digital camera has no mirrors but it still uses interchangeable lens like the DSLR.”

The Nikon D3100 is in my bucket list. Now that I’ve saved enough for this DSLR, I will go to my favourite camera store and then buy it. My Nikon DSLR choices were D3100 or go for the D5100? And better yet, since I wanted so much to own a new Nikon DSLR, I decided to splurge and go for a better Nikon DSLR than Nikon D3100 with 14.2 Mp and I went for the next model Nikon D3200 with 24.2 MP.
Last week I went to The Camera Store downtown and checked their new camera stocks. To my surprise, the Nikon D3100 was sold out already and the newest Nikon D3300 was on sale. I was looking to buy the Nikon D3100 or the next level Nikon D3200 so I asked for the final sale price of this DSLR and the sales person quoted $550 (MSRP). I went to another camera store down the road and the same Nikon D3200 was on sale for $350. Wow, a few steps away from that huge camera store, then I hit the smaller camera stores patiently browsing around asking for prices and specs of the said Nikon DSLR and saved a couple hundred bucks. And what a find, I was told that there were 3 left on stock plus the demo at the store. I wanted a sealed box so the sales person got one in the back of the store and handed it to me to go and pay the cashier. I told him that I also needed a UV filter for the DSLR and maybe a spare Nikon Lithium rechargeable battery. He was so accommodating and he handed me a Nikon Camera Bag free-of-charge, I was told. Then I took the Nikon box with the Nikon D3200 and the accessories with the free camera bag, walked to the cashier and paid for my purchases. Really, I’m now the very proud owner of the new DSLR Nikon D3200 24.2 MP with an AF-S DX 18-55 mm VR II f/3.5-5.6 G lens kit.

The newest Nikon D3300 was a bit too pricey for my own pocket so I opted and went a level below D3300. Now, I am the owner of a Nikon D3200 bundled with a Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-4.6 G lens kit. I have chosen the Nikon D3200 with 24.2 MP over the Nikon D5100 with 16 MP DSLR, why? More Megapixels, better photograph’s quality, they’ve said and proven it. So there’s your answer. Glad to be the proud owner of Nikon D3200 and the beginning of a new Nikon Adventure.
