Independence Day Philippines – Araw ng Kalayaan (Pilipinas)
On June 12th, 2017 here in Canada we celebrated the Philippine Independence Day. Filipino-Canadians are in town to celebrate, have a parade and picnic at the Earl Bales Park last weekend, a couple of days early actually. There’s some Filipino dances exhibition, Filipino songs and everyone have to bring their own Filipino food or buy from the vendors offering our native dishes like adobo, pansit and lechon with rice, of course. Time for a picnic in the park.
And in honor of our valued freedom and celebration of independence here’s the National Anthem of the Philippines:
MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!!!
The Philippine National Anthem (in Español,English & Tagalog)
The Philippine National Anthem “Filipinas” was originally written in Spanish by Julian Felipe in 1898 and in English during the American Commonwealth Era in 1938 entitled “The Philippine Hymn” and in 1958 in Filipino (Tagalog) entitled “Lupang Hinirang” (revised in 1960’s).

The Philippine National anthem is actually one of the best anthems in the world. So heroic, strong, and somewhat lively.
Hi Gian and Sheila, I totally agree that our Philippine National anthem is one of the best in the world. It exudes the feeling of patriotism and heroism whenever I hear the anthem, “Lupang Hinirang” (Pambansang Awit) at Pinoy gatherings here in Toronto!
