Visit to the Thousand Islands at the Kingston Harbour!
On our way home from the Cottage, we had a short detour and visited the Thousand Islands at the Kingston Harbour front area and took a short cruise around the 1000 islands of New York State and Kingston, Ontario at the St. Lawrence River.
The world-famous 1000 Islands begin in Kingston and span the St. Lawrence River for miles. We cruised the river in style taking in the beauty of the 1000 Islands onboard the triple-deck paddle wheeler during their famous three-hour Heart of the Islands Cruise. It was a great Summer afternoon and the skies were blue as ever. The cruise boat was a bit crowded at the upper deck, when most of the passengers wanted to soak the beautiful summer sunshine and take some photographs of the view around us, like the lovely castles and lots of green trees and shrubs. We were not so sure if they served food and refreshments at the boat so we brought something to eat while we enjoyed the cruise. We had some cookies and potato chips with some bottled juice drinks/water. We also prepared some ham/cheese sandwiches and brought some cupcakes on our short trip. The river was calm, the weather was great and what a breezy wonderful afternoon out on a leisurely cruise at the Thousand Islands we really enjoyed.
It was early evening when we disembarked from the boat and everyone was so tired ready to go home. We boarded the vehicle and were on our way home to Toronto. Traffic was good on the QEW highway so it only took us over an hour to get home safely. Another Summer vacation that ended so abruptly due to the unsettled stormy weather in the cottage counties. Summer’s not over yet so we still have plans to go on another summer vacation before the Autumn season arrives. Autumn also known as the Fall Season is always a season we anticipate eagerly due to the colorful leaves of autumn trees. They turn red, orange and golden during the Autumn season and that’s when we go on a sightseeing trip around the province to take lots of Autumn photographs of the changing leaf colors all over the countryside.
Most of the photos here were taken from the upper deck of the cruise boat that was traveling on a leisurely speed for hours and then we had to turn around to go back to Kingston Harbour front to end the cruise. There’s a lighthouse, view of the river, a nice old castle nestled by the shores of the St. Lawrence River and some other lovely views of mountains seen at the St. Lawrence River Cruise.
