One More Night’s Out for Another Birthday and Retirement Party Celebration!
Night’s out again for a Birthday Party this week one more time! It’s actually my sister’s birthday last Thursday but because of the busy Sunday wedding of our niece, we decided to celebrate and have a dinner party weeks later at the Mandarin Chinese Buffet Restaurant in Toronto on a Friday night. The restaurant is in the Woodbine Avenue, Markham, ON area. It is a significant celebration because my sister is also going on Retirement now after working for decades at the Beauty Saloon in the Toronto area as a dedicated beautician with mostly Seniors as permanent clients.
Our relatives and close friends were the special guests for this planned dinner party of 12 people. Our 5:30 pm reservation was just the right time when some of our guests have left from work and most of us have already retired anyway. An hour later would have been so crowded already as the lobby was getting full of waiting diners who did not have any reservations. The guests started arriving before the said time and we were there early around 5:00 pm. We left the apt. early since the Friday rush hour have already started. We picked up the ordered balloons for the birthday and retirement party. We were going to buy a cake but the bakeries were so busy so we just called the restaurant and ordered a Black Forest Cake for the occasion. By the time we got there the dining table set for 12 people was already being set up and was almost ready for the early dinner (Buffet service starts at 4:30 pm).
Our cousins and their partners arrived on time and so did our close friends. Drinks were ordered and we had wine, beer and some had hot tea or iced tea cold drinks. As soon as everyone had arrived we started getting food at the buffet area. Only on Fridays and weekends do they serve Crab Legs, our favorite in the menu. There’s so much variety to choose from the main entree to the soup and dessert. They have for main entrees chicken, beef, pork and seafood. The Chinese menu was so abundant that everybody can choose their own favorite dishes like Chow Mein noodles, breaded Shrimps, chicken wings (fried or breaded) and unlimited steam crab legs.
The dinner party was so much enjoyed by our guests and we were surprised by the group of waiters who came in bringing the birthday cake with lighted candle so that the celebrant can blow it and make a wish. There was also a Native hat with decorated flowers that the birthday celebrant got to wear while we all sang the Happy Birthday Song.
Then everyone got a slice of the Black Forest Cake and all of us were eating dessert after the cutting of the birthday cake. Some of us went to get some cappuccino ice cream (sugar free) and tried the new Mango flavor ice cream and other flavors. They also have custard (Leche Plan). Some went for the fruit tray with sliced watermelon, pineapple and some strawberries. There were other desserts like pastries and small slices of various cakes. It was getting late and everyone was so full and satisfied with the buffet dinner that we decided it’s time to call it a night. We said our goodbyes and exited so that the next group of diners can enjoy the buffet dinner for tonight.
Our family, relatives and friends were so glad to have celebrated my older sister’s birthday and coming retirement. Wishing Happy Birthday and Retirement to my sis, Angie.
Then there’s a Thank You Card that she gave before we left with a lucky Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max Lottery tickets given to each and everyone of the attendees before leaving the dinner party.
It was a cool Fall evening and quite breezy, too. We were just thankful that winter is a bit far away and we can still enjoy the beauty of the colorful falling leaves in the Autumn of 2014.
